The National Conservation Training Center (NCTC) offers a unique and diverse range of conservation training courses, designed by and for the conservation professional. Topics range from coldwater fish culture to habitat conservation planning, from environmental negotiation to building community support for natural resource programs.

The Recreation and Park Resources program at Marshall University offers a bachelor of science degree with an emphasis in parks and conservation. Marshall University students will now be able to obtain a minor in off-highway vehicle recreation. The first course in the series was offered on campus in the spring of 2003 and the second course was offered in the spring of 2004. Since then, each course has been offered online.

The National Wilderness Preservation System is managed by the Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and U.S. Forest Service. In a spirit of cooperation these four agencies established the Arthur Carhart National Wilderness Training Center to "foster interagency excellence in wilderness stewardship by cultivating knowledgeable, skilled and capable wilderness managers and by improving public understanding of wilderness philosophy, values and processes."

The Missouri Master Trail Builder program provides training to individuals throughout Missouri who then volunteer their time applying what they have learned to help others in their communities to learn about building and maintaining primitive trails. The program's contains 10 4-hour courses to choose from.
