Bicycle Trails Council is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was founded in 1987 by a dedicated group of volunteers who fought the impending closure of almost all bike trails in the East Bay! We are the oldest mountain bike advocacy group in the United States and one of the founding clubs of IMBA.

The mission of the Rivanna Trails Foundation is to promote, create, and protect pathways, trails, and greenways in the Rivanna River Watershed that connect communities and people to one another and to nature. We are a volunteer organization supported solely by tax-deductible contributions, and believe that community-wide trails serve as a resource for nature-related recreation, environmental education, and human-powered transportation.
