Where diverse communities are welcomed through meaningful connections, educational opportunities and recreational experiences, while conserving wildlife habitat in the Minnesota River Valley.
The refuge offers a variety of recreational activities: hiking, biking, hiking/walking, wildlife viewing, hunting, and so much more. You can find maps/brochures, exciting programs, guided tours, exhibits, and a nature store at the two visitor centers on the refuge.

The mission of F3ST is to bring together communities and volunteers to build, maintain, and promote the Fonta Flora State Trail (FFST). Located in western North Carolina, the 100-Mile Fonta Flora State Trail will connect Morganton to Asheville with hiking and biking trails along the Catawba River and creeks, around Lake James, through the mountains and into downtowns.
