Our Programs

The Trail Fund

The Trail Fund is a joint initiative of the Trails Move People Coalition, led by American Trails, to assist the trails community with funding to support maintenance, research, and stewardship training needs.

Trails Move People

Creating a strong, cooperative, and unified voice for a diverse trails community.

The Regional Trails Training Program (RTTP)

RTTP is a partnership between Nevada State Parks, American Trails, and Chinook Associates to provide a series of workshops that focus on stewardship skills and program development for trail organizations.

Advancing Trails Webinars

American Trails brings agencies, trailbuilders, advocates, and volunteers the latest in state-of-the-art information on all aspects of trails and greenways. Our webinars focus on very specific trail topics and usually include one to three presenters skilled on the topic.

NRT Database

National Recreation Trails (NRTs) are some of America’s finest trails. With almost 1,300 trails in the database, NRT’s include trails for all users types.

International Trails Symposium and Training Institute

Every two years American Trails sponsors the International Trails Symposium to bring together trail and greenway advocates, managers, planners, and users, as well as tourism and business interests.

Emerging Trail Leaders

The Emerging Trail Leaders Program immerses young leaders in learning best practices and trends in the trails profession to help pave the path to careers in natural resource management.

NRT Trail Ambassador Program

American Trails is seeking motivated volunteer Trail Ambassadors that are willing to visit as many of the National Recreation Trails in their region as possible to gather data and identify issues on these great trails.

Advancing Trails Awards

The Advancing Trails Awards Program recognizes the tremendous contributions of volunteers, professionals, and other leaders who are working to create an effective system of trails across the globe.

TRAILSNext™ Video Series
