The Vermont Land Trust saves the land that makes Vermont special. Since 1977, we have protected farmland and forestland from subdivision and development – knowing that once farms and forests are gone, they rarely come back. We want our children, grandchildren, and future generations to enjoy local food, farming, clean air and water, hiking, hunting, forestry, and sugaring.

The Greensboro Land Trust was founded in 1992 by a group of Greensboro residents, permanent and seasonal, who were concerned that development should proceed along lines that would preserve the town’s rural character, protecting farms, forestland and wildlife habitat. GLT is a private nonprofit land conservation organization supported by its membership and governed by a volunteer board of trustees. We are not connected with either local or state government.

The Vermont Trails and Greenways Council (VTGC) is an independent advisory body that works with the Vermont Agency of Forest Parks and Recreation (FPR) to support Vermont Trails and Outdoor Recreation. The Council was founded as a nonprofit made up of a wide range of Vermont trail organizations. Our primary mission is to ensure that people will always have access to the trails and landscape of Vermont. This mission is driven by a commitment to trails as critical infrastructure for Vermont communities in ensuring better health, sustainable economies, and an increased commitment to conservation.
