The Friends of Rothrock State Forest is a chapter of the Pennsylvania Parks & Forests Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The Friends was formed in the Spring of 2018 by a number of volunteers interested in promoting and supporting responsible public access to, education about, and enjoyment and stewardship of Rothrock State Forest for current and future generations. To further these aims the Friends of Rothrock State Forest works closely with our parent organization, The Pennsylvania Parks & Forests Foundation, and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

Situated on 60 acres of forest, fields, and wetlands in the hamlet of Mount Tremper is the Congressman Maurice D. Hinchey Catskills Visitor Center. The CVC is the official visitor center for the Catskill Park and is operated by Catskill Center in partnership with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
