The Middlebury Area Land Trust (MALT) works with our community to conserve natural and productive landscapes, and to enhance scenic, recreation, and educational opportunities. We cannot achieve our goals alone. Volunteer opportunities and financial contributions support MALT’s efforts at a grass roots level. Our members help with trail maintenance, land conservation efforts, public access projects, and environmental education, and more.

The UAC serves as the central resource in Utah for avalanche information, serving all forms of winter backcountry users and working closely with local and national media. The FUAC maintains the most comprehensive avalanche website in the U.S., with daily advisories, video tutorials, field observations, a glossary, media resources, a database of snow profiles, photos, videos, calendar of events, list of all avalanche courses taught in Utah, sponsor list, donation request, links to national resources, and more.

We organize citizens of the South Summit area to advocate for non-motorized recreational land use. We plan and build sustainable trails for runners, hikers, bikers, horses, skiers and more. The Salt Lake Climbers Alliance serves as the universally recognized voice of climbers in the greater Wasatch region. It was formed in 2002 to address a climbing access issue in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Today, the SLCA is one of the nation’s most highly-regarded local climbing organizations. It works as an advocate with public and private landowners to protect climbing access across the region. It also serves as a steward of climbing sites, managing re-bolting of established routes, upgrading or developing sustainable trail access and educating climbers on responsible use of outdoor climbing areas.
