Mineral Creek Trail Reroute

This project seeks to reroute a section of the Mineral Creek Trail, which was decommissioned along with its associated trailhead in June 2023 to accommodate river side-channel and floodplain restoration projects on the Kachess River.

The Mineral Creek Trail connects the Pacific Crest Trail to developed camping facilities at Cooper Lake and is easily accessible via a paved road. The Greenway Trust proposes to begin a suite of work in June 2024, including:

• Flagging a new half-mile trail route to reduce erosion into the restored riparian area -Adding drainage features, reducing maintenance needs
• Determining which stretches of trail cross granite bedrock, and which can be hand-built -Contracting with equipment operators for necessary excavation
• Using hand tools to build trails in softer soils
• Connecting the trail to a new 8-10 vehicle trailhead facility, constructed separately using funds from the State of Washington.

We anticipate completing this work by November 2024.
