Gary L. Haller National Recreation Trail, Kansas

Johnson County, Kansas, manages the 17.5-mile trail which begins in Olathe and continues north through Lenexa and Shawnee. The scenic, multi-use route was one of the first major trail facilities completed in the Kansas City metropolitan area.

Tallahassee-St. Marks Historic Railroad State Trail, Florida

Sixteen miles of the rail trail are managed by the Department of Environmental Protection’s Office of Greenways & Trails. It runs due south from the main Tallahassee trailhead near Capital Circle (US 319) southeast, to the coastal town of St. Marks.

The westernmost rail trail in Florida, it extends from the historic town of Milton north to US Naval Air Station Whiting Field. The trail passes through pine woods, a cypress/bay swamp, and an area of white-topped pitcher plants. An unpaved equestrian trail parallels a segment of the paved trail.
