High Desert Trail System, New Mexico

The three mountain bicycling loops go from easy beginner to intermediate to technical, connecting communities of Gamerco and Mentmore, adjacent to Gallup, New Mexico. Designed specifically for mountain bikes, the trail system is great for an afternoon loop mountain bike ride with the family or all-day epic ride.

Kanatak Trail, Becharof National Wildlife Refuge, Alaska

The Kanatak Trail is a route used for centuries to cross the coastal mountains of the Alaska Peninsula. The Kanatak Trail was designated as a National Recreation Trail in 2012.

Chattahoochee Valley Railroad Trail, Valley, Alabama

The trail traces the path of the Chattahoochee Valley Railway, which was constructed by the West Point Manufacturing Company to serve several cotton mills along the Chattahoochee River on the Alabama-Georgia border.

Mason-Dixon Trail, Pennsylvania

This 30-mile section of the 193-mile Mason-Dixon Trail is a hiking trail that follows the lower Susquehanna River in York County, PA. There are beautiful views, deep ravines with waterfalls, and several big climbs and descents to where streams have carved out canyons in the river hills.

McTrail National Recreation Trail, Marion County, West Virginia

McTrail is managed by Marion County Parks and Recreation Commission and is highlighted by a 1,200 ft lighted tunnel. It runs 2.2 miles from Fairmont, WV to Prickett’s Fort State Park.

Quinebaug River Water Trail - Thompson Lake Section, Connecticut

This five-mile water trail within the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ West Thompson Lake project is an excellent 3-hour outing for paddlers who are comfortable with moving water and enjoy seeing varied landscapes of forests and fields along with extensive wildlife habitat.
