2023 Advancing Trails Awards Announced

The Advancing Trails Awards Program recognizes the tremendous contributions of volunteers, professionals, and other leaders who are working to create an effective system of trails across the globe.

American Trails Advancing Trails Award winners were announced at the 2023 International Trails Summit Awards Ceremony that took place April 17, 2023 in Reno, Nevada

Hulet Hornbeck Lifetime Service

This award is for an individual that, like previous board member and trail advocate Hulet Hornbeck, exemplifies long-standing vision and wisdom in support of trails.

Trail Planning and Design

This award recognizes a trail project of any size that demonstrates innovative planning and design techniques, while incorporating accessibility, and making a positive contribution to the community it serves.

2023 winner, Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects

Partnership in Trail Management

This award is given to a partnership in trail management which benefits agencies or services within the field of trail planning, design, or implementation while capturing an important aspect of the trails community.

2023 winner, USDA Forest Service Eastern Region 10-Year Trail Shared Stewardship Challenge
