America’s Scenic and Historic Trails on Public Lands: The Intersection of Cultures, Heritage, and Outdoor Recreation
Through this teaching guide, students learn to locate national scenic and historic trails that they can visit with their families. Students also carefully read the inspirational language of the National Trails System Act, which motivates them to explore public lands and highlights the crucial role of volunteers in trail maintenance.
The Bureau of Land Management in the US Dept. of the Interior sponsors many courses and workshops through a variety of training opportunities. Trails, recreation, land management, technical training, and public involvement are topics that are frequently covered. The BLM has also been a leader in establishing and developing the National Trails Training Partnership.

The primary goal of this study was to understand who uses the Continental Divide Trail (CDT), how they use it, their preferences, and the economic impact of the CDT in the region. Additional data were also collected regarding protecting public lands and using the Continental Divide Trail in Colorado.
