The Kansas Trails Council began informally in 1974 when a group of trail enthusiasts joined together to build multi-use, natural surface, public trails near several Kansas lakes. In 1984, the KTC officially became a non-profit 501c3 corporation dedicated to promoting the development and enjoyment of Kansas trails.

Cecilia has been the key person revitalizing interest in urban, suburban and unpaved trails throughout Leavenworth County, Kansas. Although there have been earlier initiatives. They have failed to sustain community involvement and support.

The Kanza Rail-Trails Conservancy (KRTC) manages the Flint Hills Trail and the Landon Trail, converting these former rail lines into non-motorized public trails and wildlife areas across Kansas. We are a grassroots, non-profit organization of local volunteers.
