Hunterdon Land Trust

In 1996 Hunterdon County was undergoing a transformation from a rural community to one threatened by increasing sprawl. Worried about effects of development and increased car traffic on air and water quality, as well as the loss of family farms and the local food system, a group of local residents created an organization that would become the Hunterdon Land Trust to protect the rural character and natural resources of Hunterdon County.

Huron Waterloo Pathways Initiative

Our mission is to facilitate the development of non-motorized recreational pathways and to help link Michigan’s growing network of trails. We are working in partnership with the Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation Commission to complete the Border-to-Border Trail (B2B) and realize our vision of healthy, active, and connected communities.

Huron-Clinton Metroparks Foundation

Established, in 2003, the Metroparks Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to provide critical support to sustain the Huron-Clinton Metroparks for the enrichment of people and the environment of southeast Michigan. The Metroparks Foundation goals are to support projects at each one of the Metroparks, with a focus on specific projects as identified through each park’s master plan, educational programs and public events.

Hurricane Creek Trail Restoration

Volunteers will work on constructing trail drainage structures such as water bars to prevent erosion, installing check dams to reclaim sections of incised tread, constructing a turnpike to get through a wet/muddy area, clearing brush out of the trail corridor and restoration of campsites and fire rings near Echo and Billy Jones Lakes.
