The Friends of Pocahontas is a volunteer organization dedicated to supporting Pocahontas State Park. There are no fees to join and no limits on who can get involved. In addition to supporting park events and instructional programs, we maintain 25+ miles of single track mountain bike trails and supply all of the park's firewood each year.

The Friends of Rothrock State Forest is a chapter of the Pennsylvania Parks & Forests Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The Friends was formed in the Spring of 2018 by a number of volunteers interested in promoting and supporting responsible public access to, education about, and enjoyment and stewardship of Rothrock State Forest for current and future generations. To further these aims the Friends of Rothrock State Forest works closely with our parent organization, The Pennsylvania Parks & Forests Foundation, and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

As our mission states, FOSI is committed to the dual purposes of protecting the natural & cultural resources of Sears Island and maintaining public accessibility for recreation and education. To this end FOSI accepted the responsibility for stewardship, in partnership with Maine Coast Heritage Trust when the Conservation Easement was placed on 601 acres in 2009.
