Delaware: Meinrad Leckie

In 2011-2012, Meinrad Leckie volunteered over 300 hours on a variety of trail projects across northern New Castle County Delaware.

Meinrad led multiple volunteer groups on a variety of projects (bridge construction, material transportation, mechanized trail building, hand construction, and general maintenance (trimming, mowing, knicking and de-berming).

Meinrad analyzed trail problem areas and created solutions for the problems without supervision. His mechanized trail building skills have evolved to a point where he no longer needs direction. He understands how to manage water flow and principles of sustainable trail design.

Passionate for trails and trail building, Meinrad’s volunteer efforts helped maintain, and develop miles of trails within Delaware’s State Park, New Castle County, and City of Newark protected park lands. Without his volunteer efforts, the regional trail system in northern New Castle County Delaware would not be a mid-Atlantic hot spot.
