The Berwick Trail is a pedestrian-bike trail loop system that ties the entire Berwick community together. From the beginning over twenty years ago, Town Councilman Damon Robison saw the great value of the trail and shepherded it to completion just last year. Now, one can get on the trail from any point in Berwick and exit at any other point making it not only a recreational facility, but an active transportation one as well. Damon downplays his role in this public works project. Damon gives testament to what can be achieved by a small community when a diverse range of individuals and organizations work collaboratively to create something very special. Damon credits the public works crews who provided much of the site preparation and actual infrastructure construction and continue to maintain the trail. Damon also credits the support of the town’s elected officials and Louisiana State Representative Sam Jones. Many individuals from surrounding communities regularly travel to Berwick to enjoy the trail and it remains the town’s most popular recreational feature. It is virtually impossible to NOT find someone on the trail regardless of the season.
