    Beneficial Designs (BD) is a leader in the development of trail assessment. Starting with the Universal Trail Assessment Process (UTAP) which is done by hand, then introducing the High-Efficiency Trail Assessment Process (HETAP) which uses one of two carts developed by Beneficial Designs. This webinar will discuss the assessment work that BD does and how the data is collected and can be viewed by the user.

    • Understanding the difference in UTAP and HETAP
    • Explain the benefits of trail assessment and trail access information dissemination for land managers and trail users.
    • Select appropriate trail assessment techniques for common trail conditions and trail features.

    Todd Ackerman, ADA/Assessment Coordinator, Beneficial Designs, Inc.

    Todd Ackerman is the ADA Assessment Coordinator with Beneficial Designs. Todd has traveled from the east coast of Canada (Prince Edward Island) to as far west as Hawaii teaching the UTAP/HETAP assessment process. Not only does Todd do the teaching but also performs assessment for Nevada State Parks, Minnesota State Parks, and King County Parks in Seattle, to name a few. Todd has also been a presenter at the International Trails Symposium, Professional TrailBuilders Conference, California Trails and Greenway Conference, and the ADA symposium.
