The conferences/workshops provide a great way for stewardship groups around the country to connect with each other and with key wilderness specialists in the federal land management agencies. Outdoor Retailer Winter Market will be about “how” retailers buy, rather than “when” retailers buy. Moving the show to November means it’s the launch event for the season: retailers will see the entire range of products available and gather intel about trends and industry initiatives so that they can make informed buying decisions. The deadlines stay the same, but the retailers have more information. They see what’s possible, they analyze their sell through so that they can maximize their open-to-buy dollars and minimize order changes. Brands benefit from early retailer feedback to guide forecasting and production.

Traditionally celebrated the 2nd week of November, the Downstate Conference is a one-day event hosted by the New York State Recreation and Park Society, the New York State Therapeutic Recreation Association, the Westchester Recreation and Park Society, the Hudson Valley Leisure Services Association and the Metropolitan New York Recreation and Park Society. The Downstate Event offers approximately 25 concurrent sessions, exhibit showcase and lunch for an estimated 300 park, recreation, and therapeutic professionals; including students. 2019 marks the 25th Anniversary of this collaborative effort.
