SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- City lawmakers will vote next week to let a bike-sharing company set up shop in Syracuse and to extend a series of city bike paths to the North Side.
City Hall picked Gotcha Bike to launch a bike-share program that lets people rent bikes for everyday riding.
In his State of the City address in January, Mayor Ben Walsh announced he would bring bike-sharing to Syracuse. His administration has made good on that and is now seeking approval from the city council.
If approved, Gotcha will set up docking stations full of bikes throughout the city. Those bikes can be rented to travel the city and returned to any station.
The network of bikes is expected to be in place by late summer or early fall, according to Neil Burke, transportation planner for the city.
