The Sanctuary consists of 164 acres of maritime forest, marshes, and dunes, including a lake, a swamp, and a beach. It is located at the eastern end of Dauphin Island, a 14-mile long barrier island situated off the Alabama Gulf Coast.

Aucilla River National Recreation Trail, north Florida

The Aucilla River has a rich history, remarkable geology, and abundant wildlife. Anglers, paddlers, and boaters enjoy exploring this waterway as it courses between banks lined with limestone formations and disappears underground within the Aucilla Wildlife Management Area.

Nature Coast State Trail, Florida

The 31.7-mile long trail runs through the Suwannee River Valley, and is managed by the Florida DEP’s Office of Greenways & Trails. Built along abandoned rail lines that intersect at Wilcox Junction, the trail connects the communities of Cross City, Trenton, Fanning Springs and Chiefland.

Spyglass Hill Trail, Enid Lake, Mississippi

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Enid Lake manages the 17 mile multi-purpose trail. The trail provides visitors with recreational opportunities including camping, hiking, equestrian riding and a chance to visit historical areas of Enid Lake.
