American Trails Announces $500K Fundraising Goal for the Trails Capacity Program

The Trails Capacity Program administered by American Trails is funded by sustaining corporate sponsors and individuals. We are excited about our fundraising goals, and looking forward to opening the program later this year as funding is secured.

American Trails is currently fundraising for the Trails Capacity Program and excited to solicit sustaining corporate support with a 5-year commitment and individual support at any level. Our goal for this year is to secure $500K to award each year to trail stewardship, research, and training projects across America. We hope to open the program for applications before the end of 2023. In 2022 we received 291 applications for projects requesting a total of $3.2 million. As of March 2023, we are proud to have awarded over $120K of support to a total of fourteen trails projects in North America, leveraging awarded and matching funds by a factor of 1:4. Explore these projects in greater detail on our interactive map.

The Trail Capacity Program of the Trail Fund invests in nationwide trails community capacity. It maximizes the impact of available funding by leveraging matching funds and in-kind volunteer hours and focusing on capacity-building of existing and emerging stewardship organizations. This program finds the best trail partners from across all nonmotorized and motorized trail user groups (including water trails), and it measures success in terms of visible, on-the-ground stewardship of trails and increased capacity of trail stewards to do the job effectively. This program partners to complete trail projects that are inclusive, foster improved trail user behavior, and connect trail assets to a broader spectrum of users. In the coming years, we hope to grow this fund to support many more trail projects that improve the capacity of the trails community

We appreciate the support of our corporate sponsors including Ford Bronco Wild Fund, Waterford Press, Rhino Marking and Protecting Systems, and many individual donors. To donate $5. immediately, just text "im4Trails" to 44-321
