The 2021 winning photo for the Training and Education category. Blevins Gap Nature Preserve in Alabama. Photo by Lauren Sanderson, Shoot My Brand.
Since we began the NRT Photo Contest in 2003, we've seen a great variety of trails captured by photographers around the nation. We sponsor the annual Photo Contest in celebration of these great trails and to highlight the diversity of NRTs, from backcountry trails to urban greenways.
2021 is no exception. We received a record-breaking 466 new images of National Recreation Trails and the winners range from a water trail in Michigan to an accessible trail in Colorado. Winter trails are represented, as are rail-trails, backcountry hiking and equestrian trails, and well-traveled commuter trails. As always, the photos show the love we have for these NRTs and how they improve our quality of life.
