The 4.8 mile Nelson-Trevino Canoe Trail located between Nelson, WI and Wabasha, MN is a treasure of the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge.
Froland Waterfowl Production Area Interpretive Trail winds around several wetlands through scenic restored prairie and oak savanna in west-central Minnesota. An accessible trail leads to an observation platform overlooking a large wetland.
The 400 mile long Des Moines River Water Trail that runs from Estherville to the Mississippi River, is an extremely scenic stream. There are two trail sections - the North Section (Cottonwood to Birdland Park Access) and the South Section (Harriet St. to Yellow Banks).
Paddle your way through the mature floodplain forest and rich backwaters of the Winona District of the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge.
At approximately 631 miles in length (the suitability of various river channels will vary the exact route for different types of watercraft), the trail is considered to be the longest in a single state in the U.S.
This 11-mile marked paddling trail near Winona, MN, traverses broad pools, islands, braided channels, and extensive bottomland forest.

O. L. “Leff” Moore was the “father” of the Hatfield-McCoy Recreation Area, the most innovative motorized trail system in the eastern United States. Leff was the recipient of the 2008 Hulet Hornbeck Award at the 19th International Trails Symposium.
