In 1987 a White Mountain, Arizona, horsemen’s association of 25 members organized a volunteer group, TRACKS, to build and maintain trails for horseback riding.
Gerry Wilbour has served as President of the Professional Trailbuilders Association for several years and has come to be admired as a forthright and effective leader in the trail contractors' industry, as well as a technical innovator always on the cutting edge of design and construction solutions.
The Jeju Olle Foundation has demonstrated outstanding efforts to bring dialogue about long distance trails to an international level.

Gunnison Trails Non-Profit Organization has been the backbone to community partnerships in the Gunnison Field Office. Most of this is due to the director of Gunnison Trails, Dave Wiens.
David and Monica Day are 30 year veterans of the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference and are the Trail Crew Chairs of the West Jersey Crew. Thanks to their dedication they have forever changed the condition of NJ’s trails for the best.
Bill Carter has been on many Backcountry Horsemen’s (BCHC) work parties clearing trails but never on one that was defined as an Epic Event.
