The trail system was developed cooperatively by the City of Orange Beach and Gulf State Park (Alabama State Parks Division) to provide recreation and access to one of the last remaining maritime forest communities along the Alabama coast.
The two-mile Montevallo Greenway Trail connects Orr Park, the downtown business district, the University of Montevallo and the University Lake Recreation Area.
The Eastern Shore Trail is a dedicated multipurpose trail for pedestrian and non-motorized vehicle use that generally follows the shores of Mobile Bay in South Alabama for 36 miles.

Three connecting trails: the Guadalupe River Trail, the Highway 237 Bikeway, and the Coyote Creek Trail North – provide 16.4 miles of recreation opportunity in San Jose.
Based on a partnership between the City of Redding, Bureau of Reclamation, Bureau of Land Management, and Shasta County, these trails are an example of what is possible through a joint effort between various agencies and local groups.
The National Recreation Trail designation for the Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT) includes 96 miles of the 165-mile trail which runs along the ridges and mountain tops that encircle the Lake Tahoe Basin.
