Updated statistics from the Outdoor Recreation Satellite Account (ORSA) released by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) show that the outdoor recreation economy accounted for 2.2 percent ($412 billion) of current-dollar GDP in 2016 (table 2). In data produced for the first time, using inflation-adjusted (real) GDP, the outdoor recreation economy grew 1.7 percent in 2016, faster than the 1.6 percent growth for the overall U.S. economy (table 6). In addition, real gross output, compensation, and employment all grew faster in outdoor recreation than in the overall economy in 2016.

Outdoor Retailer Snow Show is where the outdoor and snow industries come together, creating an unprecedented opportunity to reach influential buyers across all product segments. This is the place for brands to reach a larger, more diverse and valuable retail audience, as well as an enhanced media presence to carry their brand stories into the consumer marketplace.
Outdoor Retailer Winter Market will be about “how” retailers buy, rather than “when” retailers buy. Moving the show to November means it’s the launch event for the season: retailers will see the entire range of products available and gather intel about trends and industry initiatives so that they can make informed buying decisions. The deadlines stay the same, but the retailers have more information. They see what’s possible, they analyze their sell through so that they can maximize their open-to-buy dollars and minimize order changes. Brands benefit from early retailer feedback to guide forecasting and production.
