Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania

With the skills I learn at the 2019 International Trails Symposium and Training Institute, I will encourage all to become a part of the outdoors no matter the type of recreation users chooses to participate in. In today’s entertainment driven world, discovering the outdoors by trail is an opportunity for all to engage in learning and pursue more exploration. I am excited for the chance to meet other charged young individuals that are interested in the trails world.

I am currently working as a GIS Specialist as a contractor with Pennsylvania’s Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). As a GIS Specialist I manage ExplorePAtrails.com, a portal for sharing and exploring Pennsylvania trails information. The website features an interactive map, driving directions, a forum for updating trails information, and a place where people can upload reviews and share stories about their favorite trails. I help plan and implement Pennsylvania’s statewide greenways and trails using geographic information systems (GIS). I work with Bureau of Forestry and Bureau of State Parks to support and promote trails. I publish maps for the Bureau of Recreation and Conservation, working with DCNR customers, consultants, partner organizations, and other state agencies. I am motivated by learning new things, coming up with creative ideas, and working as part of a team. One of the most fulfilling aspects of this career is that it gives me the opportunity to make a difference. My experiences have always reminded me that the vision that I am working towards is building a better tomorrow.

I developed a passion for spatial technology through a few field courses, I've always been thankful for my education from Shippensburg University. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, biking, playing with my dogs, yoga, and taking photos.
