Youth Conservation Crew

Time Commitment: Work dates: June 25 - August 16 (24 hours per week; Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri)


YCC is an environmental job program. Not only will you work hard protecting nature in the City, but you will also discover exciting careers in natural resources, develop job skills, and experience some of the most beautiful places in Oregon.

There are three different types of jobs: Tree Crew, Trail Crew and No Ivy League.

Job Responsibilites

No Ivy League (habitat restoration)
Meeting Location: Lower MacLeay Park, 2960 NW Upshur St
Bus lines: #15, #77
Work days: Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri; 8am-2:30pm
Improve the health & biodiversity of your parks by removing invasive ivy. Apply for this crew if: you love plants and animals, and are considering a job as a scientist, ecologist or community organizer. Requirements: you must be able to walk up to 3 miles, walk on uneven surfaces and work safely with sharp tools.


Trail Crew

Meeting Location: Powell Park, SE 26th Ave & Powell Blvd
Bus lines: #9, #10, #4
Work days: Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri; 8am-2:30pm
Give people access to nature by building and maintaining trails. Apply for this job if you are considering a career as an engineer, architect, construction worker, urban
planner or trails professional! Requirements: you must be able to walk up to 3 miles, walk on uneven surfaces and work safely with sharp tools.


Tree Crew

Meeting Location: Powell Park, SE 26th Ave & Powell Blvd
Bus lines: #9, #10, #4
Work days: Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri; 8am-2:30pm
Improve air quality and make our city more beautiful by caring for and learning about trees. Apply for this crew if you love trees and are considering a career as a
scientist, planner, arborist or landscape professional. Requirements: you must be able to work safely with sharp tools and work in the sun.

Required Qualifications

To be eligible, you must

  • be between the ages of 14-18 throughout the entire work season
  • be available to work the entire work season
  • demonstrate initiative and work readiness by personally emailing or calling if you have questions. You must submit your own application. Parents or guardians should not do these things for you.
  • be curious about nature, science, plants, animals, and jobs that protect the planet
  • be willing to work outdoors in nature for 6 hours a day, 4 days a week
  • be dependable and responsible - show up to work every day on time
  • be excited to work with a diverse team

Salary and Benefits

Hourly rate: $12.50
