Volunteer at the 2019 Symposium

Location: Syracuse, NY
Enthusiast volunteer to assist with auctioning off a handful of items at the Trails Rock Party. Looking for someone to get the crowd excited and who isn’t afraid to be on a mic and to get the crowd’s attention.
Assist in arranging auction packages, organizing paperwork for each item, and displaying them on auction tables.
Volunteers will watch over auction tables, and during breakdown, process paperwork and cash, check, and credit card transactions.
Requires knowledge of computer systems, connections to projectors/speakers, and PowerPoint. Volunteers will assist presenters if problems with AV equipment arise. They will troubleshoot problems and make needed equipment repairs as quickly as possible.
Package symposium materials for attendees.
Exhibit Hall Setup/Breakdown
Lift and move boxes and help setup/breakdown exhibits for the Symposium. Assist with keeping exhibit floors clean of debris. Some exhibits may require the need to move heavy items and may get your clothes dirty.
Volunteers will not be assigned to a particular area, but will step in as needed (i.e. if a volunteer role is vacant during a shift). They will assist with miscellaneous tasks that American Trails staff need help with.
Mobile App Connoisseur
Since there will be no printed programs, we are encouraging attendees to download the conference mobile app. Show attendees how to download the mobile app on their cell phones and showcasing key features of the application.
Check people in, get liability waivers signed, and help get buses ready.
Registration Assistant (Friday)
Assist with name badge and meal ticket assembly.
Registration Assistant (Saturday to Wednesday)
Requires a detail oriented person. Manage check-in, provide direction and information about the Symposium and Syracuse area to attendees. Will assist with merchandise sales and auction payouts, and handling cash, check, and credit card transactions.
Requires a detail oriented person. Distribute, collect, and organize multiple forms (including learning credits and session evaluations). Ensure session presenters AV needs are met. Straighten out room before/after sessions. May cover more than one room.
Assist with organizing leftover materials and packing boxes to ship back to American Trails office.
Collect tickets (and keep track of them) for meal functions. Monitor who is entering and exiting the room. Assist American Trails staff with other items that need attending during these events.
Trails Rock Party
Volunteers will be offsite (Museum of Science and Technology) assisting with setup, clean up, collecting meal tickets, as well as assisting with the live auction (setup, manning auction table and cash box). Assist with clearing food plates and cleaning tables.
PLEASE NOTE: Some positions only require volunteers for certain days and hours, if your hours of availability do not match these positions you will not be assigned to them. Most positions will last four or more hours.
