SCA Pennsylvania Outdoor Corps Summer Crew Leader

Location: 2020 Summer Program Cities: Allentown, Altoona, Chambersburg, Erie, Greensburg, Harrisburg, Hazleton, Meadville, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Pottstown, Renovo, St Marys, Wilkes-Barre, Wellsboro, Williamsport and York
Time Commitment: Mandatory Leader Training Dates: June 8th - 19th, 2020 Leader Position Dates: June 8th – August 10th, 2020 Program Schedule (members): June 29th – August 7th, 2020 Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM

We are looking for qualified applicants to lead Outdoor Corps summer crews in State Parks and Forests throughout Pennsylvania.

Crew Leaders train, supervise, and administer crews of 10 high school students, ages 15 to 18, on a variety of outdoor work projects, including trail construction, habitat restoration, and park maintenance. Leaders should have experience working with youth or experience in outdoor occupations. Two leaders are assigned to each crew.

Job Responsibilites

  • Act as a Crew Supervisor, by facilitating teamwork, managing field-based tasks, and guiding crew dynamics
  • Serve as an Advisor, by training members in technical conservation work skills, mentoring personal and professional development, and teaching environmental stewardship
  • Act as a Project Manager, by communicating with agency park partners, ensuring successful and timely completion of work projects, and upholding a positive representation of SCA
  • Perform tasks as a Program Administrator, by organizing logistics, completing documentation, managing a budget, and communicating with SCA staff

Required Qualifications

  • 21 or over at the start of the program on June 8th.
  • Have a valid driver’s license for three or more years.
  • Have or obtain a Basic First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Have experience working with youth or in outdoor occupations.
  • Be able to model safe and professional behavior at all times.

Salary and Benefits

$650 per week, with paid training
