Communications and Outreach Specialist

Location: This position covers all of Idaho.
Time Commitment: This is a full time, exempt employee position.
The chosen candidate will help define and build this newly-created position. Working collaboratively with the Board of Directors and ITA staff, this position will focus on five main responsibilities – communications, outreach, marketing, membership, and fundraising. High attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision is essential. This position will be homebased and will report to the Executive Director.
Specific responsibilities of Communication and Outreach Specialist
Communications – Create and manage communication plan and calendar. Develop targeted campaigns to drive attendance of events and/or projects. Create and manage monthly newsletter. Manage social media platforms to drive brand awareness. Administer and enhance website content. Monitor the general email account. Assist with annual report and required USFS reporting.
Outreach – Create and manage outreach plan and calendar. Coordinate and attend community events to drive membership, volunteerism and donations throughout Idaho. Create and deliver presentations to secure membership, donations and sponsorship. Develop and manage public facing events plan and calendar to raise awareness with volunteers, donors, land managers and trail user groups.
Marketing – Establish guidelines and content to ensure public-facing marketing materials carry consistent messaging. Design and create membership and fund raising brochures and videos. Work with state and regional media (print, TV, radio) to gain frequent exposure. Membership – Work to grow membership base, retain and engage existing members. Coordinate new member welcome activities, maintain membership records, and manage membership renewals.
Fundraising – Develop and implement strategies for direct mail and electronic fundraising. Drive fundraising efforts by generating donor lists, analyzing giving patterns, calling donors. Identify and respond to appropriate grants and sponsorship proposals for position and program. Research, identify and pursue new funding opportunities including corporate donors and partner organizations.
Salary range starts at $31,000 per year and will commensurate with experience. Position includes paid vacation, paid holidays and stipend to assist with private health insurance.
