With the skills I learn at the 2019 International Trails Symposium and Training Institute, I will become more involved with agency-wide professionals at Five Rivers MetroParks to enhance our trails initiative. Currently, as an Outdoor Recreation Specialist, I serve a variety of demographics employing outdoor activities/outreach programs. These activities include; backpacking, fly fishing, mountain biking and paddling as educational tools to cultivate independent trail users/trail advocates of Montgomery County. Also, I am a full-time student attending Wright State University obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Earth and Environmental Sciences this spring. Ultimately, I hope to weave aspects of my formal education and investigative techniques, in a geological context, to provide detailed information about all 18 parks within Five Rivers MetroParks lithology. These assessments would provide our agency with useful information applicable to site planning and future sustainable trail construction.
