The historic depot at the trailhead was renovated
A multi-agency collaboration for the design and construction of this four-season trailhead facility.
Presque Isle County and the Village of Millersburg collaborated with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources on the design and construction of this four-season trailhead facility.
Dedicated in January 2013, the trailhead is located midway along the North Eastern State Trail (NEST). The NEST is a Michigan Department of Natural Resources multi-use rail-trail that runs 70 miles from Alpena to Cheboygan, Michigan. The trail has a 10-foot wide packed crushed limestone surface and is open to snowmobiles in the winter.
The trailhead facility provides parking, restrooms, drinking fountain, benches, picnic tables, interpretive signs and other local park amenities. The unique covered shelter design includes faux log fire-resistant seating around an open fire pit where visitors gather for conversations and the locals can share stories.
The Millersburg Trailhead Park at the Millersburg Historic Depot is located just off 638 Hwy (Main Street).
