The State Awards recognize individuals who have made compelling and significant contributions to the trails movement in their home states.
In 2017, Erik Pritchard was elected president of the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America (SVIA®) and the Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association.
The SVIA® promotes the safe and responsible use of all-terrain vehicles through rider training, public awareness campaigns and state legislation. Additionally, the SVIA® works to preserve access to off-road lands and expand riding opportunities. The ATV Safety Institute, part of these organizations, offers training and resources both online through their website, including free safety webinars, and in person through hands on courses. Erik has brought exciting changes like a new ATV Safety Institute logo communicating safety rules, and an ATV Safety Week that will offer free in person training to ATV riders across the country. The new logo will coincide with the launch of ATV Safety Week.
