Possible rail-trail may preserve Colorado's 178-mile Tennessee Pass rail line

Here are two scanned photo of the rail line. We'll gradually update this file with more information on this exciting but still uncertain project.

Below: A section of the likely railroad abandonment on former Rio Grande RR west of Cañon City in the central Rocky Mountains. The railroad follows the Arkansas River for nearly a hundred miles.

Below: a typical railroad bridge along the Royal Gorge route west of Cañon City. The railroad continues over Tennessee Pass and down to the Vail Valley just west of the Vail ski resort town.
