Highlights from the 2015 National Off Highway Vehicle Conservation Council Conference

By John Favro, American Trails Board Chair

In late October, the National Off Highway Vehicle Conservation Council (NOHVCC) held their annual conference in Folsom, California with a theme of: Innovations. For NOHVCC, this was their 25th annual conference and the 13th joint conference with International Off Highway Vehicle Administrators Association (INOHVAA). Many OHV enthusiasts from all over the United States and Canada attended this conference. American Trails was represented at this Conference by our Chairman, John Favro.

One of the highlights of the conference was a mobile workshop held at the Prairie City State Vehicular Recreation Area managed by California State Parks. Many types of OHVs were provided for conference attendees by various sponsors and individuals.  Attendees spent a day taking management tours, recreation tours, OHV training and certification, and just riding.

The NOHVCC Conference was preceded by the International Off Highway Vehicle Administrators Association (INOHVAA) Conference. Also during this week, there was a Program Managers Round Table as well as presentations on:  successful OHV projects, youth corps, the continuing evolution of electric OHVs, and many other subjects. At the conference awards dinner, the NOHVCC founding group received several awards and recognition. Awards were also given to deserving groups and individuals on a variety of subjects and accomplishments.

The week also included meetings of the All-Quad Council of Canada (AQCC) and the California OHV Commission.

American Trails supports all types of trail use and user groups including NOHVCC whose mission is: “As a national body of OHV recreation enthusiasts, develops and provides a wide spectrum of programs, materials and information, or “tools,” to individuals, clubs, associations, and agencies in order to further a positive future for responsible OHV recreation.”
