Vinal Creek Trail (NRT), Three Rivers RD, Kootenai NF. Wildfire in 2000 damaged large sections of tread and three bridges (two bridges were damaged and one totally destroyed.) Crew is reconstructing a section of tread. Note pieces of one of the damaged bridges in foreground. The Vinal Creek Trail is an excellent family hiking trail as it climbs less than 400 feet in 3.5 miles. This system accesses a lookout tower on Mt. Henry which offers a dramatic view of the Kootenai Valley, Glacier Park, and the Canadian Rockies. (submitted by Bill Fansler)
