The 2003 contest for photos of America's great trails!
American Trails is sponsoring a contest for photographs of National Recreation Trails across the country. To view the 138 entries, visit the Photo Contest Galleries: Album #1 -- Album #2 -- Album #3 -- Album#4 -- Album#5 -- Album#6 -- Album #7. We will provide awards in several categories and show off entries on the NRT Web site. The goal is to highlight the diversity of the NRTs and to make more Americans familiar with these great trails. We're looking for good photos of trail users as well as features of interest, signs, special facilities, management issues, construction, and volunteers. We also want to see entries that cover the many types of National Recreation Trails: greenways, backcountry hiking trails, water trails, motorized trails, rail trails, interpretive trails, historic routes, urban trails, and bicycling and horseback riding trails. Photos of any designated National Recreation Trail are eligible
Check the on line searchable database for a list of NRTs in your state and provide more information on individual trails. If you're not sure if a trail is an NRT, or if you have questions about the contest, call American Trails at (530) 547-2060 or NRT@AmericanTrails.org. Entries may be displayed on the Web site at www.AmericanTrails.org/NationalRecreationTrails. Please limit entries to 10 photos per trail and identify the NRT as well as any interesting features and the specific community or location. To view some of the entries so far, visit the Photo Contest Gallery. The deadline is June 30, 2003, to give four seasons of photography for entrants. Give each photo a number, file name, or other clear and concise identifier Attach a list of your entries with descriptions of each scene or other relevant information You may include maps, brochures, news articles, or other information If you are entering photos of more than one NRT, please use a separate form for each different trail You may use digital formats (JPEG or TIFF) or slides or quality prints. Digital images may be e-mailed if attachments are under 2 megabytes. Otherwise please mail a CD (not CD-RW) or 100 mg Zip disk with your entry form.
