American Trails' 20th National Trails Awards Program honors people and programs at the 20th American Trails National Symposium. The awards celebration was held in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Nov. 16, 2010.

This award is given to a business or corporation that has demonstrated significant, sustained, and exemplary service to trail planning, implementation, and/or recreation.
Lyndhurst Foundation

Accessible canoe dock along the South Chickamauga Creek section
of the Tennessee River Blueway
The Lyndhurst Foundation has demonstrated tremendous support and exemplary service for trails planning and development in the east Tennessee and north Georgia region. The foundation focuses on the enhancement and enrichment of the natural, educational, cultural, and urban environment of Chattanooga and the surrounding region. The foundation’s service has benefited thousands of people in the region by creating various outdoor recreational opportunities for them to enjoy. Organizations they have partnered with for better trails include the Trust for Public Land’s Chattanooga Office, The Lulu Lake Land Trust, the Southeast Watershed Forum, and the Cumberland Trail Conference.
Lyndhurst Foundation Trail-Related Grants (2008-2010)
American Trails – Support for the 2010 annual conference in Chattanooga
Chattanooga Nature Center – support for planning and construction costs in conjunction with the development of the “Paddler’s Perch” as a node along the Tennessee River Blueway System
City of Chattanooga – Department of Parks and Recreation – support for the construction of a canoe dock along the South Chickamauga Creek section of the Tennessee River Blueway

Conservation Fund – for support of the acquisition of the 10,000-acre Rocky Fork tract, which includes several miles of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail Corridor
Cumberland Trail Conference – multi-year grants to sustain operations and facilitate the planning and construction of the Cumberland Trail
Friends of the Cumberland Trail - for support of a concert series and related activities to raise public awareness and financial support for the Cumberland Trail
Friends of Great Smokys National Park – for support of trail maintenance and construction within the park as provided by the Student Conservation Association
Land Trust for Tennessee – support for the South Cumberland and Greater Chattanooga project offices, whose work has included the protection of key properties along the Cumberland Trail and Fiery Gizzard Trail
Lula Lake Land Trust – for support of planning and construction costs in conjunction with the development of the Cloudland Connector Trail Project
Mountain Goat Trail Alliance – for consulting, planning and construction costs in conjunction with the development of the Mountain Goat rail/trail
Outdoor Chattanooga – for support of a variety of projects aimed at expanding Chattanooga’s network of cycling, walking, and paddling trails and amenities and to promote an active lifestyle
Southeast Watershed Forum – for support of the Southeaster Water Trails Symposium
Southern Off Road Bicycle Association – for support of trail construction in the greater Chattanooga focus area
Trust for Public Land (Chattanooga Office) – support for transaction costs for the purchase the Molpus Tract as an addition to the Cumberland Trail and Cumberland Gap State Park
Trust for Public Land (Chattanooga Office) – support for general operations and capital support to advance the expansion of Chattanooga’s Urban Greenway System
