John Leslie has been employed by the Louisiana Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) as a Wildlife Biologist for 19 years, working for most of this time on Wildlife Management Areas (WMA’s) in the northeastern section of the state. He served as Regional Manager for the Ferriday Region 4 office and is currently Regional Manager of the Pineville Region 3 office.

Since 1999 John has been involved in the planning and construction of 20 ATV trail maintenance projects on the extensive and ecologically diverse system of WMA’s owned by LDWF. In 2007, he was appointed as ATV Trail Grant Coordinator for the department’s Wildlife Division. His trail grant proposals have produced almost $600,000 in revenue that was used to improve and maintain 78 miles of ATV trails. Six of these projects were completed in 2009, improving 18.5 miles of ATV trails and trailhead infrastructure.

John is currently working on 7 new statewide ATV trail improvement projects. Provisional funding for these projects totals over $200,000. When completed, these projects will provide maintenance improvements to an additional 12.2 miles of ATV trails.
