The National Forest Association – Los Padres (NFA-LP) used $42,500 in RTP funds to undertake a major rehabilitation of the Kings Campground and Trailhead located on the Mount Pinos Ranger District of the Los Padres National Forest.

The rehabilitation, which has benefited all users of the facility, included bathroom replacement, disability accessibility upgrades, fire rings and picnic table upgrades, replacement of all signage, refurbishment of barrier systems and the construction of a new off-highway vehicle loading ramp.

NFA-LP was formed by the California Trail Users Coalition to provide support to public land management agencies by bringing in new resources, including funding via grants as well as partnerships with varied groups such as law enforcement, business, Native American, political, community, education, and conservation. The group also supports a vibrant local tourism infrastructure. NFA-LP consists of more than 75 members representing more than 20 local organizations.

Public land agency partners include the U.S. Forest Service, California State Parks and Recreation Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Division, and Kern County Department of Parks and Recreation.
