Hosted by AmericanTrails.org Transportation Research Board calls for papers "Integrating Bicycles and Pedestrians into Context Sensitive Solutions Policies and Projects" While Context Sensitive Solutions calls for the safety and mobility of users and consideration of pedestrians and cyclists, not all CSS policies and projects have achieved this goal. What are the current best practices to ensure safe travel by bicyclists and pedestrians on all transportation facilities? What changes might be made to ensure the routine inclusion of bicycles and pedestrians? Papers could address the following topics and might highlight successful programs, projects and solutions that could serve as models for the future. - Integrating bicycling and walking into Context Sensitive Solutions policies and projects. How can it be done? Where is it being done? - Examples of CSS projects. Model projects and processes could be discussed and presented, with analyses of what made them successful and what lessons could be learned for broader implementation. - Overcoming barriers to incorporating bicycling and walking into CSS policies and projects. What are the reasons that this is not being done as a matter of course, and more importantly, how are those barriers overcome? - What changes are needed in order to ensure the comprehensive integration of bicycling and walking into CSS policies and projects? Authors interested in submitting papers are advised to visit http://www.TRB.org and review the Information for Authors. Authors submitting papers in response to this Call for Papers should submit full papers for peer review to the Transportation Research Board http://www.TRB.org by the applicable deadline shown in the note below. On the paper submission form please show the sponsoring committee name or the Call for Papers title. Please contact the Call organizer if you are submitting a paper or need additional information. NOTE: TRB has implemented dual paper submittal deadlines for 2008 Annual Meeting: Papers in non-PDF format must be submitted prior to midnight Friday, July 27, 2007; Papers in PDF format must be submitted prior to midnight Wednesday, August 1, 2007. Authors are strongly encouraged to convert their paper to PDF format prior to submission to the TRB website to take advantage of the later deadline and to facilitate quicker processing of their paper. TRB also reminds authors that the best way to avoid last minute complications is to submit their paper well before these deadlines. http://www.trb.org/am/cfp/2008/AFB50T-AFN10-AFN20.pdf Jennifer Dill, Ph.D. Associate Professor Nohad A.
