MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of the eighth school grade and one year of experience performing non-paved, recreational trail maintenance or trail construction work, or directly related experience.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must possess a Class - A state Commercial Driver's License (CDL) at the time of appointment, or must possess a Class

- A CDL permit at the time of appointment and obtain the appropriate Class - A CDL licensure within 60 calendar days from date of employment, as a condition for continued employment.

NOTE: Preference will be given to applicants who have knowledge and experience in maintaining, building and designing hiking, biking, walking, horseback riding, and fitness trails and related facilities.

The primary function is to implement trail maintenance and construction work, design new trails using GPS equipment to locate and record locations for GIS maps, liaison with users through personal contacts and e-mail / internet to organize volunteer participation, supervise temporary employees and day labor, and assist developing signage, maps, and web based information for users.

The applicant will need to be familiar with and willing to use all the tools of the trade, including hand-tools, chainsaws, and riding mowers. As a Trail Maintenance Repair Worker, the applicant would be expected to be able to drive trucks, dump trucks, front-end loader, and tractors as required by the supervisor.
