POSITION: Limited Commission Park Ranger
START & END DATE: May 2017 – October 2017
PAY RATE: $10.50/Hour
LOCATION: State Forest State Park

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is an unarmed law enforcement position (Title 33 Commission). Park Rangers enforce park laws and regulations; issues citations for violations; patrols park areas by motor vehicle, Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) and/or foot. Employees will respond to emergencies and resolves visitor complaints. Park Rangers will complete reports and may be required to appear in court. Positions will also assist with revenue collection and verification, accounting and deposits, visitor services operations, education and interpretive programs. This position will also assist with all areas of daily park operations. Positions assure quality customer service, facility maintenance, and repair and cleanliness. Park Rangers also assist with all general park maintenance and cleaning of public facilities including: restrooms, vault toilets, campsites, picnic areas, trails, etc. Positions will operates and performs routine maintenance on State owned vehicles and equipment. Position provides information and assistance to visitors. Employees may assist with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work and transporting materials and supplies. Park Rangers will perform other duties as assigned.

The park will provide some uniform items, but employees will be required to purchase other items at their own expense.

Employee On-Site Housing available for a nominal fee.

Note: This position is up to 40 hours per week and up to six months in duration. School schedules MAY be accommodated.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Must be at least 21 years of age
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
Must be free of felony convictions or pending charges; consideration will be given to all other previous violations of law, including misdemeanor violations, domestic violence, traffic, and conservation laws
Must have or be able to attain First Aid and CPR certifications
Must be able to perform physical work in adverse conditions
Must be able to work various shifts, weekends and holidays
Must complete a comprehensive background check
Must attend and complete required Park Ranger training
Must have ability to work with little supervision
Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills
