Since 1991, the Greenway and its board of directors, representing the major stakeholders in the region, have served as the catalyst for this effort. Over the past 16 years, over 200 million dollars have been spent by the public to connect what is now a 750,000 acre swath of public open space. These lands will protect the region’s heritage of public open space and outdoor recreation for current and future generations.
