Hosted by AmericanTrails.org Naples Pathways Coalition seeks executive director Application Deadline: January 31, 2008 EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, NAPLES PATHWAYS COALITION, Collier County, Florida Background: The Naples Pathways Coalition (NPC) is a growing not-for-profit organization with a 501(c)(3) designation. NPC advocates for a fully integrated and safe pedestrian, bicycle and other non-motorized transportation network throughout Naples and Collier County. Job Description: NPC seeks a halftime staff person to lead and grow the organization, with the opportunity to expand the position to full-time as fundraising success permits. Responsibilities include policy work, public education and media advocacy, fundraising, and outreach and organizing throughout the greater Collier County area. The position presents a great opportunity to play a critical role in transforming southwest Florida into a more healthy and sustainable region. Tasks will be broad and varied, and overall responsibilities will include the following: 1. Leadership and development of a solid non-profit organization, including motivation and management of volunteer programs, goal setting, office establishment and administration, database management, and fund raising to support projects. 2. Involvement in the development of critical city and county level bicycle and pedestrian advocacy, policy and funding decisions; 3. Coordination with a diversity of organizations and local officials involved in bicycling/walking, health and sustainable transportation, including the development of and leadership in strategic coalitions and campaigns to create more livable communities; 4. Coordination and implementation of Bicycle Education programs based on League of American Bicyclists Bike Ed curriculum to adults and children; 5. Outreach to media outlets through the development of reports, op-eds, letters to the editor etc. in order to inform and influence public debate on bicycling and walking, transportation, and smart growth topics; 6. The ability to handle non-traditional and sometimes demanding work hours including appearances at community meetings and public hearings; 7. Fundraising (including part of own salary) through events, membership campaigns, and writing grant and contract proposals to foundations and government agencies. Qualifications: - Must be energetic, personable, and a self-starter, with ability to work well under pressure and with minimal supervision. - Experience in transportation, political advocacy & organizing, environmental issues, or related work. - Excellent communications skills, including writing and public speaking in particular. - Familiarity with computers, word processing programs, databases and the internet. - Experience in non-profit or local government arena a plus. Salary: In the 20's for half-time position, commensurate with qualifications and experience, and with the opportunity to expand the position to full-time as fundraising success permits.
