Hosted by AmericanTrails.org Mile High Youth Corps seeks Projects Coordinator Application Deadline: January 25, 2008 Mile High Youth Corps helps urban youth make a difference in themselves and in their community through meaningful service opportunities and educational experiences Projects Coordinator - Fee- for-Service Essential Functions: Project Development Establish partnerships with public land agencies, local governments and nonprofit agencies that work in the areas of environmental conservation, outdoor recreation, energy conservation, community development/community improvement, and affordable housing. Develop fee-for-service (FFS) projects that provide positive work experiences for Corpsmembers and generate unrestricted income for the agency. Goal of $250,000-$350,000 in FFS income annually. Communicate with MHYC's current project sponsors to plan and schedule future FFS projects. Create promotional materials for use in recruiting new project partners. Attend public/community-based meetings and networking events to cultivate new project partnerships. Research and develop new project focus areas that could provide positive work experiences for Corpsmembers and generate earned income for the agency. Assist project partners in writing grant proposals and raising funds to hire MHYC for FFS projects. Develop volunteer service projects for Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, National Youth Service Day, Colorado Cares Day and Make a Difference Day. Assist Director of Development in securing and recognizing sponsors for volunteer service days. Project Coordination Develop master schedule for all MHYC projects. Schedule all fee-for-service work projects and work with program coordinators to schedule non-fee-for-service projects as needed. Work with program coordinators to schedule pre-project site visits and prepare for project starts. Ensure worksite safety by conducting onsite safety assessments, identifying health and safety hazards, and implementing corrective measures. Coordinate sponsor relations and maintain regular communication with project sponsors through the duration of each project and throughout the year. Monitor project progress, quality and sponsor satisfaction. Coordinate volunteer service day projects. Substitute for injured, sick or absent Crew Leaders. Administration Create all FFS project contracts and maintain complete and accurate files on each project. Provide program coordinators with written vital information about each project. Coordinate billing for completed FFS projects with the Director of Finance. Work with Director of Programs to ensure that program coordinators complete and enter all project reports in the database in an accurate and timely manner. Assist Director of Programs and Director of Development in compiling project information for grant reports. Assist Director of Operations in creating annual project budgets and bi-monthly income reports for the board. Reports to the Director of Operations Education and Training Plans, coordinates and implements technical trainings for the fee-for-service projects for all staff and Corpsmembers. Helps facilitate continuing technical education for fee-for-service projects. Operations Coordinate MHYC's fleet of vehicles (maintenance, driver training & evaluation, needs assessments, insurance issues with the Director of Finance, etcÉ) Coordinate the procurement, security, distribution and inventory control of uniforms. Coordinate the procurement, security, distribution and inventory control of materials, tools, safety gear and field supplies for construction and fee-for-service projects. Assist Director of Operations with facilities infrastructure and improvements as needed. Assist Director of Operations with the development of operations and safety policies and procedures. Agency Support Submits weekly staff reports for internal publication. Attend staff meetings and Operations team meetings as needed. Other duties and responsibilities to be assigned as needed. Qualifications: Education: BA or BS required. Experience: 1-2 years project coordination experience required. 1-2 years experience in natural resource management, volunteer management, or working in a youth corps preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of natural resource and outdoor recreation issues. Knowledge of public land agencies and nonprofit organizations serving the Denver metro area. Organized and detail oriented. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Publisher) Ability to work in a fast-paced, creative and deadline-oriented environment. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Valid driver's license with good driving record. Hours & Compensation: This is a full-time, regular position that is classified as exempt, with benefits. Salary range is $32,000-$36,000. Hours are M-Th 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Fridays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Some evening and weekend hours may be required for special events. Send Resume and Cover Letter to jobs@mhyc.net.
