Executive Director Needed for Spearhead Trail System in Virginia

The Southwest Regional Recreation Authority (SRRA) seeks a dynamic, effective full-time Executive Director to lead the organization in developing a multi-venue adventure tourism trail system in Southwest Virginia. The initiative is known as Spearhead Trails. Building on previous accomplishments, and supported by a strategic implementation plan, we expect the Executive Director to have the vision that will take the SRRA to even greater heights.

His or her responsibilities include: Having an understanding of and passion for SRRA’s mission and its commitment to the adventure tourism community and providing vibrant leadership with a clear vision for the organization.

The successful candidate will have the energy, enthusiasm and passion needed to be an effective Executive Director, and will bring to the SRRA the following experiences and minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience ; management background preferred; plus 5 years of experience in a supervisory capacity of this or related field; grant writing capabilities are a plus; excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking; demonstrated ability to work with a governing board; strong leadership and organizational skills, good judgment, good public relations, proficient presentation and computer skills.

Compensation: Starting salary range $60,000 to $85,000 – depending on qualifications, plus benefit
