Mountain Bike Trail Crew

Job Description: The Windham Area Recreation Foundation is hiring members for a 5 - 10 person trail crew to work in the northern Caskill State Park in New York. Work is focused in and around the recreation based town of Windham, NY on mountain bike optimized, multi-use trails on state land within the Park and mountain bike specific trails on nearby public access, private property.

Crew members will be receive a trail maintenance and construction training with specific instructions for work on state land and mountain bike optimized trails, preparing them for both group and individual trail projects supervised by crew leaders. The scope of work will include use of hand tools to maintain existing trails with drainages, side cutting and various tread hardening/raising techniques as well as building new trail from start to finish.

Applicants should be motivated, energetic, excited to learn, have a strong work ethic and be prepared for a summer of hard manual labor. Crew members should be prepared to work in all types of local weather for up to 10 hours a day and be able to hike 5 miles with 60+ lbs loads. Housing and food will be provided for the duration of employment.
